I entered the Cafe Embaixada Lomográfica with the intention of finding a small present for a birthday of a friend of mine some minutes before 12pm. The ground floor was almost empty around this time. So I was asked if I need any help. The friendly Portuguese showed me some Lomografie-tools I did really like.

But my attention was concentrated of a simple drawing in black and white of the „Day of the Dead“ - a mexican holiday around Halloween. It was attached on a purple background. So I asked for the price and they sent me upstairs where you find the Bar and Wednesday. She is in charge for the Bar on Wednesday and laught because I called her Wednesday. So after introducing, Raphaela told me about their weekly program and a bit about the story of the Cafe bar. The concept is quite easy to understand:
„So. You go to the lomo-shop to develop your lomo-film. In the meantime until it’s ready you might have lunch or try out a crêpe of the day in the lomo-cafe. Furthermore you might bump into other lomo-enthusiasts.“

Cafe "Kauf dich glücklich" in Berlin
It reminded me a lot of „Kauf dich glücklich“. The founders created a business model in which they provided furniture and waffles at the same time. Nowadays you find their stores in all bigger cities in Germany and in Vienna as well.

And every night of the week they offer a different music to dance. I was surrounded by portuguese people who were dancing, chatting, playing kicker and sitting near the window to smoke a cigarette. I returned after that night twice with friends and they were really enjoying the cozy place.
